What Westminster City Council does about pests in 2026
Westminster City Council still runs a pest service, but only for its own tenants and leaseholders and for council buildings and parks. Tenants are not charged, because treatment is covered by the tenancy agreement, while leaseholders pay their share through the service charge.
Everyone else is turned away. The council's page, updated 13 May 2026, says its trading team "is not taking on any further work at this time" and sends private residents to the British Pest Control Association. So for a private flat, an office or a shop in SW1 there is no council charge for rats, mice or bed bugs to weigh against a private quote: the work is simply not offered.

Why Westminster gets mice, rats and bed bugs
