Local knowledge
Pests and properties in Hounslow
Hounslow has two main housing types. Hounslow Central is dominated by flats, while Hounslow South has a large share of semi-detached houses with lofts and gardens. Semis share a party wall and cavity, which is how mice end up in both halves; flats share bin stores and service ducts. The town's hotel stock has grown since the 1970s because Heathrow lies inside the Hounslow post town, and aircraft pass low over streets such as Myrtle Avenue. Hounslow Heath's 200 or so acres, the A4 Bath Road and three Piccadilly line stations complete the picture: open land for rats, and a constant flow of travellers and luggage for bed bugs.
What to expect from every visit

What Hounslow Council charges for pest control in 2026
Hounslow Council has its own pest team, working from the Bridge Road Depot on Pears Road, and it treats private homes for a fixed fee. For work booked on or after 1 April 2026, Hounslow charges £155 for rats in the garden, £180 for rats indoors and £180 for mice, each covering up to three visits within a 35-day window. Hounslow's bed bug price is £300 for two visits to up to two rooms, plus £75 for each extra room.
There is no longer any reduction for residents on low incomes or benefits, payment is taken by card when you book, and an aborted visit is charged. HMOs and businesses do not get the fixed price at all: Hounslow bills them at its commercial rate of £91.67 an hour plus VAT.
The service was suspended during a staffing shortage and restarted in the week beginning 6 October 2025, so check Hounslow Council's pest control page for current booking details. If you can wait for the council's programme, its prices are clear. If you run an HMO or a hotel, or want someone this week, a private firm is usually the quicker route. Our London council pest control guide compares the neighbouring boroughs.
Why Hounslow gets bed bugs, mice and rats
Heathrow puts Hounslow on the route of a great deal of luggage. Hotels, rooms let by the night and shared houses all have frequent turnover, and bed bugs move in suitcases, bags and second-hand furniture rather than through the street. Left alone, they spread from room to room. Our bed bug treatment page describes what a treatment involves.
In a row of semis or terraces, the shared walls, lofts and underfloor voids act as corridors for mice, so a problem next door often becomes yours once the nights get colder.
Hounslow Heath and the gardens near open land give rats cover, and compost, bird feed and overflowing bins give them food. The borough logged 991 council rat reports between 2023 and mid-2025, according to freedom of information figures published in August 2025, far fewer than Camden's 9,133. Councils count reports differently and 13 London boroughs sent no figures, so treat the comparison as a rough guide. See our rat control service for how we deal with a garden run.
Getting pest control in Hounslow
We cover TW3, TW4 and TW5: the town centre, Lampton, Hounslow West, Hounslow Heath, Heston and Cranford, and the hotels and businesses towards Heathrow. Next door, our Isleworth page covers the same council from the riverside end of the borough.
Every job starts with a free inspection survey. For a hotel or an HMO, the technician checks the reported rooms and the ones either side, then gives a fixed written quote for the rooms that need treating. We visit Monday to Saturday from 8am to 7pm, frequently the day you call, and take Sunday emergency calls only.
Hotel, HMO and household treatments in Hounslow all carry a written six-month guarantee, subject to the site survey. Technicians working across TW3 to TW5 hold the RSPH Level 2 Award and are DBS checked. Book a Hounslow visit on our contact page or call 020 3411 2329.

Hounslow FAQ
Pest control in Hounslow: common questions
Does Hounslow Council's fixed price apply to my HMO?+
No. Hounslow does not apply its fixed domestic prices to HMOs. Hounslow charges HMOs and businesses its commercial rate of £91.67 an hour plus VAT, and the borough-wide HMO licensing scheme has applied since 11 December 2025. We quote shared houses as a fixed written price after the survey.
Is Hounslow Council's pest service running again?+
Yes. A staffing shortage halted it, and it was re-introduced in the week beginning 6 October 2025; prices for work booked from 1 April 2026 now apply. Bookings are paid by card in advance, and a rodent programme runs over up to 35 days.
Can you treat hotel rooms in Hounslow between guests?+
Yes. We inspect the reported room and those next to it, treat the affected rooms to label with them kept clear for the stated time, and plan follow-up visits around your bookings. Housekeeping notes on where guests reported bites help us narrow the search.
What should I do before a mouse treatment in a semi?+
Clear the cupboards under the sink and around the boiler, keep food in sealed containers, and take up any glue boards, as Hounslow Council requires before its officers visit. Ask the neighbours whether they have seen mice, since the shared wall often explains it.
